Web Your NameŽ Redirect Server Site Down Website Down
How to move your down website temporarily, when your hosting company has a server down.

My hosting company took a hit about two weeks ago when a DDOD attacked happened on their DNS servers. This solution would have only worked if you had a second hosting company. since it was the DNS server down. This solution works if you only have one hosting company and the down server is the one with the website data. So, when an individual node went down that hosted four of our websites.
When a down website is discovered, our customers are frantic. We provide many of our customers free website hosting with a year contract with us, through another company. Even though it is the responsibility of the hosting company that is providing hosting services to us, we still feel like we should be able to help. We don't just sit around and twiddled our thumbs while your down site sits there for 8 hours or 24 hours or more.
When your website is built or accessed through Dreamweaver, Dreamweaver keeps all of the cache files on your PC. You can copy that folder to another node or server and add a 301 or 401 forwarder to the new folder. For example, in Dreamweaver CS3, the files are located in C:\Users\*YOU*\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\ Dreamweaver 9\Configuration\ServerConnections\*SITE*
You can copy the Public_HTML folder to a new server and through your domain registrar such as GoDaddy, you can implement the 301 or 401 redirect to where you move the website temporarily to. Note: it can take up for the DNS servers to 48 hours to update the settings, but usually GoDaddy has it done within 15 minutes to a couple hours, which is this case was far less than the 15 hours and counting the website could have been down. If only I had thought of this sooner. Having a second hosting company is an expense that most marketing companies should be investing in, thus avoiding outages and having a back-up of the site in case of emergencies.
It is now 24 hours later and the down server node the website was on, is still down, however, my client's website is back up and running, while every other website is down on that server.
We are now still waiting for the DDOS attack on the server to be resolved. The #1 and #2 result on Google today is Cisco for best DDOS protection. However, Cisco does not provide hosting services, so the best DDOS protection is Dragonara.net. If you have experienced a DDOS attack before, you know your job could depend on preventing future attacks. When you are a hosting company, or a marketing company, a down server or down website can potentially cost you and your clients THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS in revenue. That should be the motivating factor to obtain a second hosting company. And old saying goes, "An ounce of preventions is worth a pound of cure.".
I used to have my Cisco Certified Network Administrator certification. But times have changed. A website is a lot like a restaurant believe it or not. If you have ever worked in a restaurant, you know that a restaurant is divided in to parts. It is divided into the front end and the back end. That is kind of how Internet technology works. I have not worked on the back end in close to 10 years now. Times have changed and I am outdated on the back end technology. I have been working on the front end of the industry, and honestly it near impossible to keep up with both. People who work on the back end have no clue how to work on the front end.
It has now been almost 48 hours since the website initially was knocked offline. A client would not be happy about having their website down for 48 hours or more. Now, you are wishing your hosting company had FULL DDOS protection. Well this hosting company uses servers that are located all over the world, the server down is one in Singapore. The irony was I was planning to relocate a website. Now, I am going to relocate all of the websites on that server permanently. The Singapore server does not have DDOS protection, but the rest of their servers do. The down server took about 4 days to finally get back up and running. It was a complete nightmare. The important thing is having a backup copy of your website. Backups are the very first thing you learn in computer school, ALWAYS HAVE A BACKUP.
Backup Data With RapidShare
RapidShare is a good place for file hosting. RapidShare is what all of the software hackers and pirates use to store their files. File hosting is also good for back-ups. Storing your files safely somewhere is important, even if they are accounting files, business files, or marketing logos and artwork. Backing up your data periodically is A MUST. How often really depends on how much data you accrue and accumulate. But, having an extra copy never hurt anyone. RapidShare is also a file sharing service. Many hackers use it to distribute illegal software. Apparently there are no real ramifications for getting caught on RapidShare because apparently people keep doing it. If everyone were to get caught on RapidShare, RapidShare would never make any money.RapidShare would be a good place to store your important business records and website data.LimeWire, Kazaa, and Napster, were also all file sharing services. The problem is that RapidShare is German owned, and has never faced the scrutiny and backlash that Napster, and other file sharing services faced. Napster was the pioneer. They faced most of the uncharted territory that blazed the path for file sharing companies. Napster, Kazaa, and LimeWire however were notorious to be virus infested files. RapidShare files can only be located through a direct link, that usually can be found on messageboards.
Easy Warez was the pioneer of hacker message boards. Easy Warez was the hottest message board for software, music, games. Easy Warez ended up changing to The Entangled Web. In June of 2007 EWNet (Easy Warez) had more than 26,600 registered users. By December 10, 2007 EWNet had more than 75,750 registered users. Source: Internet Archive. Sometime before December 20, 2007, Easy Warez website went down and vanished along with their EWNet messageboard forum. It is unknown why Easy Warez vanished and The Entangled Web took its' place.
The Entangled Web is only a PageRank 3. I am impressed with their lowercase 'e' with a spider web in middle of the e. I even called the number on their website to see if they could give me an official reason, I got a voicemail and hungup. Their website says, "We also provide many other
services such as web design, marketing,
programming, and e-commerce...". Easy Warez is not even in Wikipedia which is surprising to me since you can find the history of virtually anything on there. I gave EWNet.com a dofollow link as well. If The Entangled Web used to be as popular as Warez-BB.
