Google marketing, Googlenomics, or Google Economics, is the process of making money through Google. Believe it or not, there is plenty of money to be made off Google, just not nearly as much as there used to be. Google has made it much harder to profit through the Internet medium. It is a fact, if you are not appearing in the TOP 10 of Google in some manor, you can probably forget about getting work or money out of online advertising.
I happen to be very fortunate. For years, our fence companies have consistently made money across the State of North Carolina because of our success through Google marketing. There are two types of Internet marketing. Natural search engine results are also called organic results. Pay-per-click results are achieved by paying for online success.

Google Webmaster Tools can give you a good indication of how your sites and their website content are reforming. Notice where I put the words "Website Authority", Google pretty much tells you where you are in terms of significance about words on your website. Webmaster Tools states, "Below are the most common keywords Google found when crawling your site. These should reflect the subject matter of your site." Having your website as an authority on a particular subject matter is something that Google finds very important. Many bloggers will blog about anything and everything with not real theme for their blog, a hug mistake for TOP 10 Google online rankings.
True, if you put the word fence 1,000 times throughout your website, it would make the subject matter of your website, fences. But, Google is not going to tell you if you are overusing words, or if they are being used to Google's liking. You see the 'G' word (Google) is the most powerful word in the business world to date. The 'G' word is the economic super highway. It should look like this Google Doodle I did below. For more Google Doodle's, visit that link to the page that is not about reaching Google's TOP 10. Notice that in the Website Authority section, there is no date that it was last updated. The Keywords category does not tell you when the information was last given to you. I have been watching it, and it has not changed in quite some time, a couple of weeks already at least.
I actually discovered Google Webmaster Tools not too long ago. I have been using it for about 2-3 months and am impressed, to say the least. Google gives you all of the answers you are looking for. Did your last marketing salesman tell you about this? Well, if this is news to you, then you might want to check it out. Google Webmaster Tools can help you find errors on your website. While they don't provide you with the same errors that the W3C Validator provides you, they are probably more important errors to correct, because many of them are linking errors. Though Xenu can also provide useful information about a website. Xenu uses a technique known as preemptive multithreading. It means that the link checking software retrieves several web pages at the same time. Marketing companies who do not show you these things probably could care less about your website. We know what tools of the trade to use, to make your website get TOP 10 Google ranking.
It's kind of funny that most Google marketing companies have no idea that Web Your Name® is actually the marketing agency for my wife's fence company, Next Generation Fences. Salesmen will call Next Generation Fences asking to speak with the person that handles the website, the Google marketing, or the person in charge of advertising. Ironically, it is ME. I happen to answer the phone for Next Generation Fences, because I am the fence salesman, my wife doesn't have time to deal with it, so I am the fence company secretary. Sometimes I love to mess with the people calling, and I start to pretend I am really interested in hiring them to get me TOP 10 Google results. I play along, usually interested in seeing how much they are going to charge, because I know they will never do as nearly as much work as they say they will. If the salesman are going to waste my time, I might as well waste theirs too, even though I love to hear the B/S they are going to tell me about how they can get me into the TOP 10 on Google, when I am already there, and HIGHER up than they are.
The call can go a couple of ways. They will call me about some usually obscure search term that somehow I don't rank for in the TOP 10 on Google. When I asked them what they are searching for it's usually something like "Raleigh fence company Raleigh NC". Sometimes I ask them to provide me with keywords that I can go search for online on a search engine to find their company. For example, "Top 10 Google", would be one set of keywords that a company should brag about if their marketing company appeared in such results. These companies usually hang up when they cannot provide me with an answer. If they cannot achieve TOP 10 Google rankings for their company, why would I pay them to do it for our company?
Wayne Sutton is pretty much a nobody in my book when it comes to search engine and Google marketing. Maybe I should start giving these salesmen Wayne's phone number?
When Keith Bloemendaal sold us his fence company's website, now we are #1 in Google's TOP 10 for "fence contractor raleigh nc". The point is that no body searches for fences with the word contractor. Being #1 for "fence contractor raleigh nc" is completely worthless, if nobody gets to the website using those words. A photo is worth 1,000 words, 1,000 words on the TOP 10 Google page is worth more than that photo. I think I have finally achieved Zen and harmony in my life, and am prepared for the road ahead. However rocky it may be, I have learned a lifetime of information in my short 31 years on this planet. It took me years to perfect my search engine optimization knowledge and it still needs fine tuning. I think I have read every possible tidbit of information regarding TOP 10 Google marketing formulas. It is everyone's dream, but few's reality. I however am lucky enough to rank in the TOP 10 Google results. I wrote this today on December 19, 2009, and the Google PageRank of this web page was ZERO.
Unfortunately, in order to get TOP 10 Google Results, you have to work endlessly to accomplish it, and once you reach it, you may only be there for a split second before you fall back down in the rankings. I have seen webpages with tons of information about theories on the matter. The truth is that obtaining TOP 10 Google Results requires first and foremost, PATIENCE. Yes, you need to be patient, you need good PageRank, and you need to constantly analyze statistics.
The truth is that I just recently started making serious progress with my websites on Google. I would say in the last 6 months, my network of websites have really blossomed. They have matured quite a bit, and the statistics are showing me I am headed in the right direction. Reaching the coveted Google TOP 5, is a dream all business owners have, but few will actually be able to afford. There is a huge cost to reaching the TOP 10 Google marketing results. You cannot buy your way to the top of the natural results. No matter how much money you have, you are only as smart as your search engine optimizer. I charge $5,000 for what some marketing companies charge $50,000 for. The Top 10 Google natural listings do not include pay-per-click advertisements. There are quite a few marketing companies that will show you that the top 1, 2, and 3 results are sometimes highlighted in blue.
If every website in the industry you are in, has 20, 30, or 40 pages of information about various industry topics, then you are probably not going to make the TOP 10 of Google if your website only has five pages of information. In order to have even a remote shot of reaching the Top 10 Google listings, you must figure out what is enough content, but not too much content on your websites. A website has to have enough information for Google to even really care much about it at all. A website with 75,000 words of content, will outperform a website with 5,000 words of content, if all other variables are equal. However a website with 1,000,000 words, may be worthless compared to a 5,000 word website whose words were carefully selected and we factor PageRank into the equation. PageRank is ultimately what makes or breaks the TOP 10 Google website results. Using a word count to check web page lengths is extremely important. It helps you target a range to be in, whether it means adding more words, or taking some away. Checking the character count in Titles is also very important to maximizing and building TOP 10 Google traffic.
If a marketing company doesn't need to show you fancy statistics, or references, or other clients. They don't need to show you anything. Google some words like Dallas marketing company, or Dallas advertising agency, or Dallas website design. If the company appears in the Top 10 Google results, you know they are a force to be reckoned with.
Lastly, a business that reaches Google's TOP 10 is only successful if they stay in the TOP 10. Sometimes marketing agencies are able to get a company into the TOP 10 but cannot keep them there. Temporary online success is NOT success at all.
Top 10 lists have been around since God knows when. David Letterman's TOP 10 lists are one reason why his show was so successful. I am sure I could think of 9 more reasons if I tried.
