Pick your name, create a name, register a name, make a name:

When you design a name, you need one that is bold and stands out in the top of millions of search results. When looking for a business name, how do you choose? According to Netcraft, the Internet research firm, there are nearly 150 MILLION active Web sites on the Internet today. Does your website stand out? Are you at the TOP of the search engines, or is your website nowhere to be found? You need to choose one with meaning. The meaning of a name is the most important part of choosing one, followed by registering it.

People continuously reach our website by searching for words such as names for marketing company, website design agency, and advertising agency. We can help you in several ways.

The first way we can help you choose one, is by telling you what names you CANNOT choose. You cannot choose any name that is trademarked. For instance no other person can choose Web Your Name®, because I have exclusive rights to those words because it is a registered trademark. Sorry, the meaning of a name is the foundation of any great business and we couldn't let you take it. Another term you cannot choose is Design Your Name™. There are two reasons for this, common law trademark rights arise out of use of a mark and therefore Web Your Name® has already established common law trademark rights to those words and the other terms on this website that contain the ™ characater. There is also a reason you cannot choose or register Design My Name as your business name. The reason is because it is CONFUSINGLY SIMILAR to our registered trademark and common law trademark which specializes in "Design", "Marketing", and "Websites". Now, with that being said, there are still PLENTY of other great choices for marketing companies, website design firms, or advertising agencies.

Let's start by categorizing what marketing companies, advertising agencies, and website design businesses are. They are creative services. What about working the term creative or innovative into the title of your business. NO, NO, NO, you cannot call it Create Your Name™ or Google Your Name™, remember that would be confusingly similar to our registered trademark, and we have aleady established common law rights. A trademark is a powerful thing. It GUARANTEES you exclusive rights to certain words. The problem is if you use someone else's trademark, you could find yourself in the middle of a huge legal battle. It would be like trying to start a business called BMI that makes computers. That would be too similar to IBM.

Meaning of your name.
Name meaning.

The meaning of your name should be taken into consideration when deciding on one. The meaning of your name is what gets people's attention and makes them intrigued about your business and their services. If the meaning of your name is not apparent on its face, it loses branding power and potential.

Why do you need a great name?

Here, you want a hint?

As I stated before, I wanted to call this company Google Me, but a stupid lawyer told me that Google's trademark prevented me from doing that, and I had to be CREATIVE and come up with something better. However I think he was wrong because I was in a different industry than Google. One man made a movie called Google Me. I have yet to see Google Me, but it is about a man who goes and finds most of the people that showed up in the Google results when he searched for his name. I think the lawyer was an idiot and erring on the side of caution. I mean what not a bigger mistake than to get a trademark and end up having Google's legal team come after me down the road. Changing the name from Google Me was probably not a bad thing. If you Google your name, who do you find?

For a business, when you create your name, you should not rush perfection. I do know that in this day and age, a name and a brand are powerful things. Well that is after all how you get a "name brand," by combining the two. One example, Consider Them Gone® is the perfect trademark for an exterminating service. Yes, that name is also taken too and cannot be used again. Your name doesn't have to be perfect, but it should represent your company in some way.

So come on, SERIOUSLY, you want me to help you figure it out. Well, a thesaurus is a great place to find other similar words, verbs, adjectives, nouns, and other descriptive and innovative words to use. Be creative, don't try to steal or spoof someone else's business name. Think about it. Would that be GOOD for business?

Protect My Deck™ specializes in deck restoration, staining, and care. Protect My Deck™ was a great choice for a deck staining company. It incorporates their services into the trademark, in a way that no one else does.

Vision Landscaping Company specializes in patios, decks, fire places, and walkways. Vision Landscaping would not be confusingly similar to Vision Marketing because they are two different industries and would not be likely to confuse people.

Marketing Logic and Marketing Logistics could be two good business names. How about Marketing Magnetism? Magnetism is defined as an unusual power to attract, fascinate, or influence. Sounds like a great word to use in the marketing industry. Unfortunately, someone already owns marketingmagnetism.com, but it just looks like a domain squatter. The website was registered in 2006 and expires in 2010 and the owner is anonymous. BUT the GREAT NEWS is Marketing-Magnetism.com was available and so I purchased it. If you decide to use that for your business, I will gladly part with it for $500. $500 is a small price to pay to start establishing a business and brand right? It is critical to being absolutely sure it is the one you want. When you create your name, make sure it is the one you want, because changing it down the road is going to be extremely costly. Changing your name is something you want to avoid. However, if you have to change your name, you should follow the steps to relocate a website.

Choose a great domain name.

Lastly, I have some other website domains that I will easily part with for the right price. These are GREAT domain names for your marketing agency website. Did you know Google actually gives points so to speak for using keywords in the domain name. In theory, if two websites that we actually the same, the one with the keyword in the domain name would rank higher than the one without. For example marketing-magnetism.com would out rank webyourname.com for a search on Google for the words, "marketing firm", if the two websites were exactly the same, and given duplicate content was not a factor. Google has also stated publicly that using a hyphen (-) between words is better than not using one. Although Google is really good at separating words that are together such as marketingmagnetism.com it is has been stated by Matt Cutts that it is preferred that you use a hyphen between them. This holds true for your web page names as well. marketing-magnetism.com/our-marketing-ideas.html would be the best format from a search engine optimization (SEO) standpoint.

Naming a business is like naming a baby.

Hundreds of millions of people connect through Facebook and MySpace every day. Being found is something that is not always easy. Standing out in a crowd is important for a business. Having a generic name with a business or a child is just senseless. For example, if I wanted to find a girl that I lost touch with named Linda Smith, do you ever think I will be able to find her through MySpace or Facebook? Impossible. I pulled out my 7th grade yearbook the other day and just started Googling people I haven't heard from in 15-20 years. I was able to find most everyone that had unique names. Chris McAnneny is a perfect example. Christopher, or Chris, is generic and that's okay with a last name as unique as McAnneny. But if you have a generic surname and combine that with a generic first name and all of a sudden your full name is a dime a dozen like Linda Smith. Chris McAnneny was one in a million, even if his first name was Chris. He is still an asshole, some people will never change.

Google Your Name.

The first step to designing your name is by choosing a font. A proper font is the first element in getting someone's attention. Once you have chosen the font that you plan on using you need to choose the font size. These two things are the most important first steps to designing your name. Once you have designed your name, you need to make your name visible. Getting your brand name recognized is best achieved through Google. Your online reputation can be discovered when you Google your name. Another great domain name to use for a marketing company, advertising agency, or website design business, is Google-Your-Name.com which I have for sale for $750. Just think about how important it is to Google your name. You want to be able for everyone to find you and you must get exposure in order for that to happen.
