There is nothing worse than a client who cannot understand the age old expression that, "Rome wasn't bulit in a day". Online success cannot be more true to this saying. There are countless marketing companies and Internet advertising firms using that "immediate" gimmick to lure you into hiring them. The only true way to get to the Top of Google is by using Adwords and pay-per-click marketing and that is a band-aid to a long term marketing plan. Real Internet success is achieved through countless hours of hard work and patience. Every website should have a Top 10 list of some sort. The top 10 reasons to hire your company, or the top 10 reasons your product is better than the rest, or top 10 articles of information.
The guarantees of these companies are no better than most weight loss guarantees. They know you will never be able to act upon the guarantee and that is why it is offered, OR the standard for them to meet the guarantee is so low that again it is worthless as the computer monitor it is being read on. For example, anyone can get someone to the top of Google for the longtail keyword term, "find fencing companies in the city of Raleigh, North Carolina." I will probably even reach the top organic position online within a few days of this article going live for that longtail keyword, which I am #1 if you search for it.
There is no way to promise assure anyone instantaneous success with organic online search results, and even if an advertising agency could make and achieve that promise, they certainly could not put a timeline on it. I would never steer a client down this dead-end road. I have nearly a dozen clients now who all signed one-year agreements with my company, and all of which I explained that at the end of the first year, the results they would be able to see would still not be the results that I or they would be jumping for joy over.
The results would definitely make them pleased but it would likely be at least a 2 year process for anything that is worth doing backflips for. What if it took us 5 years to get your company to #1 online for everything imaginable, but would take any other SEO firm 10 years to accomplish the same goals. Would you have the patience to wait 5 years, or would you jump ship after the first year or two because you didn't get what you wanted immediately.
Instant gratification is one of the reasons that companies who hire SEO firms, leave when they don't get what they want. They abandon ship before a lengthy period of time has passed.
